feat(panel): make conflict pairs readable enough to adjudicate (#400) - #401
Conversation
Reported failure mode: the adjudication window is too small, cannot be enlarged, and the two entries cannot be compared — so users drop the whole pair or keep one at random. Both outcomes damage memory quality, and the freeze-and-adjudicate design assumes a human can judge. Panel: a per-pair expand/collapse toggle (collapsed keeps the 140-char preview and the 4-line diff clamp, so the existing layout is unchanged; expanded renders untruncated text in its own scroll area), a per-side decision row (type, importance, length, relative time), a copy-this-side button, and a single-column fallback for narrow panels via a container query on the panel width rather than the viewport. Backend: listConflictQueue side objects now carry created_at/updated_at. Without them the panel literally cannot show which entry is newer, which is the one signal that settles most pairs. Read-only fields: no schema change, no new config keys.

Visual check in the host caught this: when the panel is rendered in a zero-height viewport (hidden webview / background page), 46vh resolves to 0px and the expanded text is completely invisible — a worse failure than a box that is merely too tall. Switched the cap to 28em (~28 lines) and locked it with a source assertion that rejects vh in these rules.

Summary
Addresses the report relayed in #400: the adjudication window is too small, cannot be enlarged, and the two entries cannot be compared — so users drop the whole pair or keep one at random. Both outcomes damage memory quality, and the #177 freeze-and-adjudicate design assumes a human can actually judge.
Panel (
lib/client.js)aria-expanded. Collapsed state keeps the existing 140-char preview and the 4-line diff clamp, so no layout regression; expanded state renders untruncated content and drops the clamp, each side in its ownmax-height:46vhscroll area so a long memory cannot blow out the panel.@container (max-width:560px)— container query on the panel's actual width, not the viewport.Backend (
src/service.js)listConflictQueueside objects now carrycreated_at/updated_at. Without them the panel literally cannot show which entry is newer — the one signal that settles most pairs. Read-only fields: no schema change, no new config keys, no behavior change.src/changed →npm run syncrun;node scripts/check-sync.jsreports 56 files consistent.Verification
npm test: 1603 tests / 1602 pass / 0 fail / 1 skipped (platform-conditional; exit 0), local Node 24 on Windows.test/api.test.js: the existingGET /conflictscase now asserts both sides carry parseablecreated_at/updated_at.test/client.test.js: new source-text lock covering the collapsed-truncates / expanded-does-not branch, the diff un-clamp class, the decision row keys, the copy affordance, the narrow-container single-column rule, and zh+en presence of all 8 keys.Closes #400
