siephp's composer.lock still resolves on its minimum PHP (8.3), so Dependabot works today and composer audit is clean. Nothing protects that, though: one local composer update on PHP 8.4/8.5 can move the lock past 8.3. Dependabot resolves at the lowest PHP allowed by require.php, so every run, security fixes included, would then end in "update not possible" while still showing green. That is what happened in TbbcMoneyBundle.

Changes

  • composer.json: pin config.platform.php to 8.3.0 (the require floor), so the lock is always resolved for the lowest supported PHP whatever PHP runs composer update. The lock contents are unchanged; only the content hash and platform-overrides change. All CI jobs use composer install, so the matrix (8.3–8.5) is unaffected.
  • dependabot.yml: a security group (one PR per run instead of one per advisory), a 7-day cooldown, and a github-actions ecosystem so the SHA-pinned actions (checkout v5, cache v4) get bumped. Also fixes the "path versions" typo.
  • CI: new audit job (composer audit --locked), so a new advisory turns the nightly run red instead of going unnoticed.

siephp's lock still resolves on its minimum PHP, so Dependabot works
today, but nothing stops a local composer update on a newer PHP from
moving the lock past 8.3 — which silently breaks every Dependabot run,
as happened in TbbcMoneyBundle.

- composer.json: pin config.platform.php to 8.3.0 (the require floor),
so the lock is always resolved for the lowest supported PHP
- dependabot.yml: group security updates, add a 7-day cooldown and a
github-actions ecosystem to keep the SHA pins fresh
- CI: add a composer audit job so new advisories turn the nightly run red
