Fix wide sprintf fields and bare CR handling in Perl source #1692
The WWW::Mediawiki::Client 0.31 CPAN test exposed two PerlOnJava compatibility failures:
sprintf rejected a generated table column width of 10965 characters due to an 8192-character limit.
A bare carriage return in a module’s regex source was normalized to a line feed before parsing. This changed the regex and removed line feeds from the resulting wiki text.
Expected behavior
sprintf accepts ordinary wide fields while retaining a reasonable bound for allocation safety.
Perl source loading normalizes CRLF line endings but preserves bare CR bytes inside quote-like strings and regex patterns.
Validation
The distribution’s system-Perl oracle passed. With the fix, the WWW::Mediawiki::Client distribution test suite reports 118/118 passing. Its server-only test is skipped when no local MediaWiki server is configured.
