Based on testing triggerscript and zonetrigger send trigger events on OnTrigger call. Observed in the mod Battle of the Kings where a script trigger calls itself to create sort of a game loop.

Small addition, don't call function in script trigger if name is empty. Mod uses them quite often like if it were normal non-script trigger causing bit of a log spam. |
