Scope

Prepare Python 0.8.1, not publication: bump the package version and existing CLI expectation; summarize the already merged changes since v0.8.0; update README/readiness and retain historical verification as historical.

Includes release notes for metadata integrity, native read snapshots, target-scoped label reads, bounded row-copy/planning improvements and SQLite workflow registration/hash-loop improvements. No additional optimization or runtime implementation change in this PR.

  • Unchanged specification: v0.5.0 / 864e84479f554b8ee250ffed44c4dfb963750d4a.
  • Unchanged required engine: openstatspec-pyspssio==0.5.1.post2.
  • No dependency/schema/support expansion, specification release, auto-merge, tag or registry upload.

Verification

  • Python 3.13.2 / SQLAlchemy 2.0.52, exact pinned spec, no database service URLs: 414 passed, 9 skipped, 53 deselected (-m 'not services').
  • Existing release-ref guards: 5 passed; compileall and diff check passed.
  • Wheel/sdist build + twine check passed. Clean installed wheel, outside the checkout with PYTHONPATH unset, fetched engine 0.5.1.post2 from PyPI and verified 0.8.1 capabilities, exact released spec/policy and core/frontend/legacy compiler imports from site-packages.
  • Final local read-only full-diff review of both adapter preparations: No findings. The final checklist-heading edit also passed CLI/release-ref checks (9 passed).
  • Final HEAD 7b82097: all 14 jobs succeeded in both PR CI and push CI, including every service profile and package build/install.
  • CodeRabbit reviewed 1274180 with no actionable comments; its re-review after the checklist-heading change was rate-limited. Codex review was blocked by usage quota. Neither is claimed as a completed external review of final HEAD.

Publication remains separate

Changelog remains Unreleased. After maintainer merge/authorization, finalize its date, select the exact release commit and verify that commit's full service CI and publishing controls before tagging. v* pushes invoke publication (including the unchanged pinned specification companion package with skip-existing); no tag has been created by this preparation. Stop here—PHP catalog refactoring and deferred optimization candidates are not release gates.

This prepares version 0.8.1 by aligning package and CLI version references and documenting release scope and checks. No runtime behavior or dependency changes are introduced, and no current merge-blocking risk remains.
